Monday contained fewer celebratory vibes than Sunday, either because they all got arrested or because all of Milan was still digesting. The weather started off great in the morning, with bright blue skies, which by the afternoon had been covered by a thin veil of clouds. This gave the sun a slight post-apocalyptic hue, reminding everyone that Jesus may have been resurrected, but our social lives haven’t.
Since the Orthodox Easter Sunday is approaching, I’ve taken my flaouna (reference) out of the freezer, I’m reading up on how to naturally dye eggs, and I’ve asked the hunter of the house to source some lamb. I’m still not sure which will be the hardest: managing to eat a year-old piece of frozen pastry, dying eggs using beetroot without permanently dying my hands in the process, or going to Esselunga. I would have offered to go, but to my understanding they still only let one person from each household go in at a time even in the bigger supermarkets. And, to be honest, I’ve had such a good streak of not leaving the house, that I might as well hold onto it until the end.
Remember that we are not even allowed to leave our homes here for a walk or to exercise, since when this was still permissible, everyone suddenly discovered their long-lost love for jogging (with friends). In fact, in some regions, they are reopening bookstores, stationery stores, essential businesses, and baby clothing stores. Not in Lombardy though. We started this, we are going to end it.
I haven’t been thinking about much lately, mostly because work has been busy, but also because this has sunk into a new form of groove, like a 25-minute Villalobos track. A 25-minute Villalobos track might be intriguing at the start, but soon it gets a little repetitive, and by the time you’re halfway in, you start wanting it to end.
If you don’t know who Ricardo Villalobos is, he is a Chilean minimal techno producer and DJ, famous for his contributions to electronic music, his lengthy sets and productions, but also for his inability to keep it together, shifting in a single night from this:

…to this:

More or less like us at the beginning and end of quarantine.
Lunch: Chinese noodles with duck leftovers
Song of the day: Everywhere You Go (Villalobos Celestial Voice Amnesia Resurrection Mix)
