Some minor services in parts of Italy (and the rest of Europe) reopened yesterday, signalling the beginning of Phase 2, whatever that may entail. Lombardy is still in full lockdown, thank you for asking, so we will continue gracing people’s screens with our constantly worsening presence. Maybe the masks we will all have to wear will also be serving an aesthetic purpose.
I really am curious about the transition from Phase 1 to Phase 2. It feels like Phase 1 was the ‘climbing up a tree when attacked by a pack of lions’ type of solution. It’s pretty good at keeping you safe once you’re up there, but getting down might be a challenge, and you don’t know if the lions are still around.
In a place not-so-far-away, whose shores are washed by the warm waters of the Mediterranean, magical things are happening. Renegade priests are defying science and logic, and hosting illegal church gatherings because life after death is more meaningful than life before it, so they want to make sure everyone gets there faster.
In a town in the same magical place, following mass Covid-19 testing, there was a scandalous discovery of twelve bakery employees who all tested positive, and who also apparently happened to live together. An impressive sense of community, so much so that they must be Amish.
Other employers who heard of this discovery and whose staff had also been tested, asked for the results to come out ‘a couple of days late’, to make sure they would at least sell the fresh products they currently had in stock.
Meanwhile, Trump has cut WHO funding, but something tells me he just thinks it’s the band.
WHO also said we shouldn’t be expecting a vaccine to be available in the next 12 months, so based on the track record of their statements, I guess there’s going to be one ready tomorrow.
Lunch: Chicken with mustard sauce in warm pitta bread, served with a side salad (I should start writing restaurant menus)
Song of the day: The Who - The Seeker
