Monday was yet another meetingtastic day. To be fair, meetings are our main form of socialising these days, hence something to look forward to. Although I still suspect everyone is probably paying the same amount of attention as they would if they were having dinner with someone who happened to have a mirror right behind them.
My home office setup has become slightly monotonous, so I’m thinking of mixing things up a bit by changing my chair. Life can be thrilling when you don’t have lumbar support. Yesterday I lit a candle, though I’m still saving all the Diptyque ones I got as a present, and I’m not sure what for.
A lot of the conversations I’ve had (outside of work) lately revolve around the “maybe I had it” topic. This resembles dating post-mortems, where a love interest never calls back and you still try to convince yourself that there was something there, but an unfortunate event had happened to them that made them disappear and left you wondering forever. It’s a futile act, but still a necessary part of survival.
Like most bad dating stories, unless you bump into them again, you probably won't know, and the only reason you should want to hear from them is if they gave you some form of disease which you are unaware of. You’re better off without them, hun. And, if something bad did happen to them that made them disappear forever: Great! Amazing. Light that Diptyque candle and open your best bottle of red.
Our long streak of fantastic weather ended on Sunday night. When the rain started to fall, it felt relieving. Even the weather is telling us “don’t think this is over”. The weather forecast (which has the same likelihood of success as Trump saying something scientifically-correct in a speech) says the rain will, eventually, stop. I’m confident that it will go away, but only to come back in about two weeks, just in time for everyone’s release into what I would like to call the ‘taste of freedom’ phase.
We’ve all come a long way since the lockdown started. This was going to be the most productive time ever. And, 40 days in, you go from Googling “best home office setup” to “is brown minced meat safe to eat”. No one’s written a book. My biggest milestone has been mopping the floor, which I then got told off for by the other half, because he said I was using too much water and it would stain the wood.
Some people are having a better time, and they’re only on Day 31:
Also, that’s what she said.
The number of cases is now going down in all of Italy, apart from Milan. I want to do a small A/B test and change regions, just to see if the tables will turn. I’m sure the rain will come with me.
Lunch: Sausage shakshuka
Song of the day: Tina Turner - I Can't Stand The Rain (live, because Tina Turner on stage is one of the best things the world has ever given us)
